CVL-010: The Career Launchpad

This career preparation course focuses on cultivating the career readiness skills critical for securing professional experiences. Through practical, hands-on application, students will master core competencies including developing a professional brand, constructing high-impact resumes and cover letters, building a career folder, and refining communication skills through mock interviewing. The course culminates with students being prepared to strategically search for and apply for work in their field, possessing the confidence and professional toolkit necessary to launch their internship/career journey.

CVL-201: Explore Vocation Across Career

This course will integrate vocation-based content from a variety of primary sources and will consider how understanding the broader concept of how a person is motivated can help in selecting a major and pursuing a career. In CVL 201, students will take the PathwayU assessment to discover their personal strengths, interests, values, and preferences as applied to a variety of potential majors and careers. Class assignments will involve understanding vocation as it is broadly defined, as it is generally understood at UPIKE, and specifically applied in students' lives. This course is appropriate for any student currently registered as "undecided," any student considering a change in their major, or any student wanting a deeper understanding of vocation.

CVL-301A: Pre-Internship & Career Preparation

This pre-internship course focuses on cultivating the career readiness skills critical for securing a professional experience. Through practical, hands-on application, students will master core professional competencies including developing a professional brand, constructing high-impact resumes and cover letters, building a career folder, and refining communication skills through mock interviewing. Prerequisite: Sophomore standing
