Veterans Affairs Education Benefits Department of Veterans Affairs education benefits are authorized to veterans and qualified dependents under specific chapters of Title 38, U.S. Code (USC). Eligibility for these benefits is determined solely by the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Students eligible to receive VA education benefits from the Montgomery GI Bill® (active-duty, reserve/guard, or dependent) must provide their Certificate of Eligibility to the VA Certifying Official (Office of Financial Aid) prior to being certified.
UPIKE will permit any covered individual (students utilizing chapter 31 or 33 benefits) to attend or participate in classes during the period beginning on the date on which the individual provides to the University a Certificate of Eligibility (COE) for entitlement to educational assistance under chapter 31 or 33 (A "Statement of Benefits" obtained from the Department of Veteras Affairs (VA) website - eBenefits, or a VA form 28-1905 form for CHapter 31 authorization purposes can subtistute a COE) and ending on the earlier of the following dates:
- The date on which payment from VA is made to the University.
- 90 days after the date the University certified tuition and fees, following the receipt of the COE.
UPIKE will not impose any penalty, including the assessment of late fees, the denial of access to classes, libraries, or other UPIKE facilities, or the requirement that a covered individual borrow additional funds, on any covered individual because of the individual's inability to meet his or her financial obligation to the University due to the delayed disbursement of funds from the under chapter 31 or 33
