The Writing Studies certificate is offered by the English program through the Division of Humanities in the College of Arts and Sciences. The Writing Studies certificate will be useful to students looking to grow as creative writers and to develop the written communication skills essential to professional success. Students receiving the Writing Studies Certificate will:

  • Recognize and use conventions in professional, academic, and creative writing genres.
  • Understand writing as a multi-step, recursive process.
  • Recognize and describe differences and similarities between writing in different genres, disciplines, and professions.
