Student Course Load

The semester credit hour is the unit by which the University undergraduate program awards credit for coursework and a normal student load during the fall and spring term is twelve to eighteen semester hours. Permission to carry an overload (more than 18 semester hours) requires approval from the appropriate academic Dean; using the Registration Permissions Request Form, which is available in the Registrar’s Office. During the summer terms, the maximum course load is seven semester hours per term and cannot exceed a total of 13 semester hours. Full-time students at the University of Pikeville may not enroll at another institution without prior permission from their Academic Advisor and the University Registrar or the appropriate academic Dean.
