Associate Degree
A candidate for the associate degree is expected to fulfill the requirements for graduation stated at the time of admission or readmission to the University of Pikeville. The general requirements for the associate degree are as follows:
- A minimum of 60 semester hours (at the 100 level or higher) with a cumulative grade point average of 2.00 or higher depending on individual program requirements.
- Successful completion of an approved associate degree major.
- At least 50% of the semester hours required in the major and a total of 25% of the credit hours
toward a degree must be earned at the University of Pikeville. - A minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.00 in the major unless specified for a specific program.
- A grade of “C” or better in all courses taken to satisfy major requirements.
- Successful completion of departmental assessment requirements.
Note: Developmental Studies courses do not count toward the 60 semester hours required for the associate degree.
Baccalaureate Degree
A candidate for the baccalaureate degree is expected to fulfill the requirements for graduation stated at the time of admission or readmission to the University of Pikeville. The general requirements for the baccalaureate degree are as follows:
- A minimum of 120 semester hours (at the 100 level or higher) with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.00 or higher depending on individual program requirements.
- A minimum of 39 semester hours in 300 or 400 level courses.
- Successful completion of the 36 semester credits hours of the General Education Curriculum, depending on the major and course selection.
- Successful completion of one of the following:
- A major with 30 semester hours or more; or
- An area of concentration of 48 semester hours or more.
- Thirty of the last 36 semester hours prior to graduation must be taken at the University of Pikeville.
- At least 50% of the semester hours required in the major, minor, or area of concentration and a total of 25% of the credit hours toward a degree must be earned at the University of Pikeville.
- A minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.00 in the major or minor unless specified for a specific major.
- A grade of “C” or better in all major, minor, related studies, or area of concentration courses.
- Successful completion of institutional and departmental assessment requirements.
Note: Developmental Studies courses do not count toward the 120 semester hours required for the baccalaureate degree.
