The Media Studies certificate is offered by the English program through the Division of Humanities in the College of Arts and Sciences. This certificate will help students develop the ability to analyze visual and digital media, as well as contextualize it historically. The Media Studies certificate will be useful to students looking to grow as digital creatives and filmmakers and provides critical thinking skills essentially to navigating the modern workplace.
Students receiving the Media Studies Certificate will:
- Evaluate media through critical writing, employing research, logic, and grammatical standards
- Know major concepts in cultural and literary theory
- Critically assess creative and non-creative messages in a variety of digital and visual mediums
